The MFT1800 series of multifunctional installation testers is designed for testing low-voltage electrical installations according to the requirements of all IEC 60364-derived standards. They provide all tests required for the necessary electrical certification of industrial, commercial and domestic fixed wiring installations.

The series consists of three instruments:

  • MFT1815 - The entry-level tester with CAT IV safety, 200 mA continuity, two-wire non trip loop testing with resistance and fault current display, frequency measurement and the largest, brightest and clearest display on the market.
  • MFT1825 - The most popular of the range of testers offers all the benefits of the MFT1815, plus three- and two-pole earth electrodes, 15 mA continuity testing, automatic RCD testing, phase rotation, programmable and three-phase RCD testing and current measurement with the optional current clamp.
  • MFT1835 - This advanced model also includes type B RCD testing, three-pole earth electrode testing with attached rod technology, and strikeless testing on a downloadable and rechargeable instrument. It also features internal rechargeable batteries and charger with a charge time of less than 4 hours.

All instruments are IEC 61010 CAT IV 300 V for connection to low-voltage systems without protective device, so they can be safely connected anywhere in the system up to the source transformer without risk of damage from large transient peaks.

Visible and audible safety warnings are paramount when testing high-energy systems, and the MFT1800 series includes full input protection and safety warnings when a hazardous voltage is present. If voltage is present on a circuit during insulation or continuity tests, the voltage is displayed on the screen. If this voltage exceeds a safe level, further testing is blocked and a warning is sounded.

The dials are quick to pick up and use and are colour-coded to make range selection simple and quick. Moreover, the large bright backlit display uses the patented Megger digital/analogue arc, giving you an indication of fluctuating readings, while the dual digital readout displays accurate values of important measurements at the same time as the test parameters, such as output voltage in insulation tests and resistance value in MΩ.
