FLUKE 770 Series MA Process Current clamps

Producer: Fluke

Need more time?

When measuring 4-20 mA signals, do not interrupt the loop and save time.

Do you spend time on the following?

  • Performing mA measurements by disconnecting a wire and interrupting the loop
  • Calling the control room to have a loop isolated
  • Testing analogue inputs and outputs of a console
  • Measuring through equipment with mA inputs and outputs
  • Repair of 4-20 mA control loops with intermittent faults or faults of varying nature
  • Return to workshop for additional instruments or tools

If you need more time during your busy working day, check out the Fluke 77X mA current clamps. They are designed to save you time, and money, by eliminating time-consuming activities. Now you can measure and repair 4-20 mA control loops without interrupting the loop or shutting down the system.

The 772 and 773 extend the functions and capabilities of the popular 771 mA current clamp. Now you just need to decide which model will save you the most time. The Fluke 771, 772 and 773 each offer the following:

  • In this class, the highest accuracy of 0.2%
  • Resolution and sensitivity of 0.01 mA
  • Measuring signals from 4 to 20 mA ‘without interrupting the loop’
  • Measurement of mA signals for PLCs and analogue I/O signals of control systems.
  • Illuminated dual display showing both mA readings and percentage range from 4 to 20 mA
  • Spot light illuminates wires that are poorly visible during measurements in dark enclosures
  • Detachable current clamp with extension cable for measurements in narrow openings
  • Measuring signals from 10 to 50 mA in older control systems with a range of 99.9 mA
  • Automatically change the output signal for remote testing from 4 to 20 mA
  • Power saving options: automatic instrument shutdown and backlight shutdown after certain time to extend battery life
  • Hold function records and displays changing measured values

The 772 and 773 additionally offer:

Measuring signals from 4 to 20 mA with internal measurement
Simultaneous internal mA measurement with 24V loop power supply for powering and testing transmitters
Generation of signals from 4 to 20 mA for testing I/Os or I/Ps of control systems
mA output signal linearly increasing or stepwise output signal (steps of 25%)
Automatically change the output signal for remote testing from 4 to 20 mA

Only the 773 offers the following:

  • DC voltage measurement to verify 24V power supplies or I/O voltage signals
  • DC voltage source to test input components accepting signals of 1 to 5 V or 0 to 10 V
  • Scaled mA output signal for a continuous mA signal corresponding to the 4-20 mA signal measured by the mA clamp
o Enables logging of mA signals on a separate logging device without interrupting the loop o mA output signal for logging the signal from 4 to 20 mA via a DMM with logging function or another instrument without interrupting the loop
  • mA in/out: simultaneous measurement of the mA signal with the tongs and generation of a mA signal
o Send a mA input signal to a device and measure its output signal of 4 to 20 mA to components such as valves or mA isolating switches
  • Voltage output linear rising or stepped output signal (steps of 25%)
      • o Automatically change voltage output for remote testing
