Een meetpunt of conus kan ook worden attatched als een meetwiel om het model SMT-500C of SMT-510C met hun opgenomen 7mm meten as.
Het voordeel van direct contact meten is de hogere resolutie en dus ook de grotere nauwkeurigheid van de meting. Met 60 pulsen per omwenteling, de SMT-500-serie bieden een toonaangevende maximale nauwkeurigheid over het gehele meetbereik.
